The Young Evangelists

The Young Evangelists

Marie’s 3 year-old son, Justin, crawled upon her lap, He knew what Mama needed. Her tears wet the slightly worn Pocket Testament held in his hands. Justin opened the book of John Pocket Testament and began reading. “God loved the world, gave us His Son. Mama, Jesus loves you.”

Mama’s tears began to slow.

About a year ago at  the park on the Day of May Evangelism Outreach, a youth had given the Pocket Testament League book of John to Justin. At that time Justin was only 2 years old. The youthful evangelist had told Justin to read this book everyday because it would teach him what he needed to grow up right.

It soon became Justin’s favorite Book, his Bible, maybe because the young man with the Evangelism Outreach had even taken the time to put Justin’s name in it.  With Mama’s help it became a daily devotional for Justin to help build a lifetime habit of turning to God’s Word.

Justin loved trucks and Mama said that if Justin liked trucks then so did God. She explained to Justin that God put a picture of a truck on His book to make Justin happy..

The Word was returning, just as God promised, from the mouth of the baby evangelist. Sincere in heart and sure of where to turn to bring comfort to his mama, Justin gave his Mama all he had to offer; encouragement from the Word just as she had offered the Word to him.

There would be rough days ahead, wherever they would be living. But even at his young age Justin had already been taught that God’s Word to guide them and they could encourage one another, each in their own way.

Later when they got settled at Grandma’s house, they decided to start their own outreach and requested some Pocket Testaments of John from the Pocket Testament League to hand out. They could wait for a donation to come in to cover the cost since they didn’t have money to spare right then and it would give them time to take the free evangelism training offered by the Pocket Testament League.

They knew that Pocket Testament League would give them all the evangelism tools they needed.

It was simple evangelism but it was something they could give back to God for all He had done for them. And who knows how God would use the next Testament they held in their hands.
